Summary : Ryo never believes in magic and fairytale…until he met Tatsuya.
Warning : This one is un-betaed. I’ve send my files to my usual beta, and decided to not add the stuffs she must worked on, so… this is it =D
A/N : I was listening to “I’ll Try” by Jonatha Brooke--the song used as the soundtrack of Return To Neverland-- when I remembered that Tatsuya once has an alias name as a fairy boy =D

The man quickly rushed to the other bedroom in the corridor as he heard high-pitched wailed noise a while ago. Turned the light on, he walked closer to the child who sat in the middle of the small bed.

“ Daddy… “ The five years old boy sobbed and looked at his dad with pleading eyes. His dad sighed and picked him up, “ What is it, Ryoichi ? “
Ryoichi snuggled in his dad’s warm embrace and hug his neck, “ I got nightmare… “

Patted his son and hummed a piece of lullaby, he sat in the edge of the bed; his son lied in his laps. Ryoichi slowly whispered, “ Daddy, tell me story ? “
“ Okay… which one ? “
“ The one with magic and fairies… “
“ Peter Pan ? Marry Poppins…? “
“ Noooo… The other story; about two boys… The one Mommy used to tell me every night “

That one ?

His dad smiled. “ Okay, listen to me now… Once upon a time ago, live a grumpy boy with ill-poisoned-tongue… “

Ryo walked slowly along the greyish pavement; the sunset painted the sky with scarlet tone, and the springs’s fresh breeze felt warm on his skin. His backpack felt heavy on his back, and the eight years old boy sighed.

He stopped and stared at a dandelion which bloomed on the edge side of the pavement. The white flower veered as the stronger winds blew, seemed so desperate and pathetic.

“ Why did you bother to struggle so much…? “ Ryo muttered; raised one of his legs to stomp the tiny life.

“ STOOOOP !! “
In a blink of an eye, another boy stopped him; held his waist tightly and pulled him away from the flower.

“ …what the hell…? “ Ryo protested, while the other boy quickly replied, “ Don’t do that ! You’ll kill her “
“ …her ? “
“ The fairy… Every fairy lives in a single flower, you know “

Ryo laughed, “ Isn’t it a bit too childish to believe things like that ? We are too old to believe though… “
The latter pouted, “ I’m older than you. But I still believe, you know “

“ No way ! “ Ryo set himself free from the other’s arms and studied the latter’s figure. A beautiful boy with feminine curvy lines, fair skin, big brown eyes, pointy eyes and luscious lips. He seemed so fragile, but at least they were in the same height. Correct that—the latter is a few centimeters taller than him.

“ …what ever, fairy boy “
“ HEY ! “ The other boy pouted even more, “ I have a name ! My name is Ueda Tatsuya ! “

“ The fairy boy happened to be the grumpy boy’s new neighbor. The grumpy boy always thinks that the fairy boy is odd; since the latter always believes in magic and fairies. Every day, the grumpy boy observes the fairy boy… and he always teases him for his weak body “

Tatsuya was sitting under the tree when Ryo came. Closed his eyes, almost like he was sleeping, he looked so peaceful. The younger boy poked him, “ Hey, fairy boy… What did you do ? “

Tatsuya opened his eyes, “ I’m listening to their voices “
“ Birds’ ? “
“ No… the fairies’ “
“ Fairies…? But there’s no such things as fa… “
“ STOP ! “ Tatsuya clapped his hand onto Ryo’s mouth, “ Don’t say that ! A fairy die when someone say that sentence… “

Ryo snorted, “ Well, fairy boy… If they did exist, why don’t you go and ask them the magic potion ? You really need one for your weak body “
The latter’s eyes went dimmer, and Ryo felt that he won the argue.
HAH! I WON!!

“ Daddy, the grumpy boy is such a meanie “
His dad laughed, “ Yeah, he is. But when the grumpy boy found out the fairy boy’s real condition, he felt so bad. He regretted the things he did and said so bad… “

Ryo’s body frozen when Tatsuya huffed in pain; the red liquid dripped through his palm. Even tough the older boy tried his best to hide the blood he coughed, Ryo has seen it. His eyes widened in shock, “ Tatsuya…? “

“ I’m okay… “
“ No, you are NOT okay !! “ Ryo became so worried, “ You are so pale… and you’re in pain ! “
“ I got used to this condition, Ryo… “
“ What do you mean ? “

Tatsuya answered weakly, “ I’m dying Ryo… I have a rare disease which infected my blood and my internal organs. I’ll gradually weakened, and there was no cure of it. I’ll simply die someday… since they said I won’t passed my tenth birthday “

“ And the grumpy boy starts to believe, right ? “
“ You’ re right. Deep down in his heart, the grumpy boy is a nice boy… and he has a secret affections towards the fairy boy. The grumpy boy prays every night, he hopes that the fairy boy will be okay and survived “
“ Did he succeed ? “
“ You knew the story… Even though the grumpy boy prays every night, the fairy boy’s condition still gotten worse. So late in midnight, under the silver ray of fullmoon, the grumpy boy sneaked out and climb the fairy boy’s window “
“ And he knocked “
“ Right. Three times. KNOCK. KNOCK. KNOCK… “ He smiled as Ryoichi followed his knocking movement with inaudible voice, “ The fairy boy awaken and opened his window… “

Tatsuya stared at Ryo with disbelief eyes, “ Ryo… ? “
Ryo jumped in and hugged the older boy, “ Don’t die “

“ I won’t… “ Tatsuya answered, “ At least not this season “
That night was their second summer. Tatsuya will celebrate his tenth birthday later in the autumn; and both of them feared the day so much.

Ryo intertwined their fingers together and looked straight to Tatsuya’s eyes.
“ I’m sorry for being mean to you.
I’m sorry that I hurt you so much.
 I’m sorry that I insulted your believes…

Because now, I believe too…
I believe in them, in magic and fairies…
I didn’t want you to die…
And we’ll find a way for you “

Tears formed in Tatsuya’s eyes. “ But why… Why you acted so nice ? “
Using his thumb, Ryo wiped the latter’s tears. “ Because… “ He kissed the older boy softly, “ I love you “

“ And the magic worked “
He ruffled Ryoichi’s hair, “ You remembered every details ne ? Yes, the magic worked. That night is the midsummer’s fullmoon night. The gate to the fairy world is unlocked that night; and the fairies blessed them. The fairy boy’s beliefs and the grumpy boy’s prays have been listened… “

Thousand sparkling lights covered them; along with hummed melody and joyous giggles. Both of the boys closed their eyes, as a soft voice whispered, “ Be happy… “

As the lights went dimmer, Ryo opened his eyes; found the latter’s body lied next to him. “ Tatsuya !! "

“ …but instead the fairy boy, the grumpy boy found a beautiful girl. Her face is similar with the fairy boy, with stunning angelic charms. The girl slowly opened her eyes and called the grumpy boy’s name “

“ Ryo…? “
“ Tat…su…ya ? Is this you ? “

Tatsuya blinked in confussion, but then he realized what happened to him. “ I… I was turned… into a girl…? “

“ …after the magical night, everything changed. It seemed that the fairies manipulated everyone’s memory too. No one remembered the fairy boy. No one knew the dying boy. They only remembered a fairy girl; and she never got ill. She is healthy all the time “
“ And it turned happily ever after “
Ryo smiled, “ Yes, the grumpy boy changed into a happy boy; he not longer recognized as the grumpy one. He loves the fairy girl so much, and so does she. They grew up together, being lovey-dovey lover and got married “
“ The end…? “ And Ryoichi yawned. Ryo pats his son, “ Yeah, happy end… Sleep tight, Ryoichi “
“ Night night Daddy… “ and the boy fell asleep; a big smile plastered on his face.

Turned off the light, Ryo closed the door and went back to his bedroom. His wife awakened when he moved closer to hug her; his palm rubbed her big rounded tummy. She was carrying their second child.

“ Sorry, did I make you awake ? “
“ No, it’s fine… How’s Ryoichi ? “
“ Nightmare. But he’s okay now. I told him a story “
“ …which one ? “

Ryo kissed Tatsuya’s lips, “ Ours… Our fairytale “

Btw I use the name ‘Ryoichi’ as Ryo and Tatsuya’s son since the meaning of the name itself was “first son of Ryo” LOLLLZ I knew that I’m so lame…

*Ryo is 9 while Tat-chan is near 10 in the end  of the fairytale*
well, i inspired from Peter Pan's series... so I put the age when they are not a kid, but not yet a teen~
